Humax has today announced that the BBC Sounds app, which features more than 80,000 hours of audio from the BBC, is now available on its best-selling Freeview Play Recorders.

BBC Sounds can be accessed via the Explore Freeview Play interface on Channel 100, on the Humax FVP-5000T and FVP-4000T models, giving viewers access to live and on demand BBC radio channels, podcasts and music mixes, all through one easy-to-use app on their TV.

BBC Sounds already has around 3.5 million weekly users. The BBC Sounds app gives listeners another way to access live and on demand radio from the BBC’s 18 national and 40 local stations, music mixes curated by experts, artists and special guests, and a wide range of award-winning podcasts. The shows, podcasts and music mixes are all free to play, with no advertisements.

Almost 10% of digital listening is carried out on TVs around the UK, equivalent to around 48 million hours per week. Making the BBC Sounds app available to download on Humax Freeview Play devices will provide Humax owners with another option to enjoy audio content from the BBC.

Thanks to BBC Sounds ‘Continue Listening’ functionality, when logged in with a BBC account, users can continue their BBC Sounds experience seamlessly on any compatible device, from a mobile phone or tablet on the go, to their smart TV and set-top box at home.
Listeners can choose from exclusive music mixes curated by the BBC's music experts, artists and special guests. These range between 30 mins to 6 hours, and once finished, BBC Sounds will recommend further options to suit the individual’s taste. So far in 2020, BBC Sounds has broadcast a huge selection of mixes curated around the BBC’s biggest brands including titles such as Noughts + Crosses, Killing Eve, I May Destroy You and Ibiza Dreams. Some of the biggest names in UK radio have also compiled their favourite content: current mixes include ‘Radio 1’s Power Playlist with Annie Mac’ and ‘Sounds of the 90s with Fearne Cotton’. Catering for every mood, listeners can choose from a broad range of ambient mixes including Uplifting (The Happy Hour from Radio 1), Calming (Mindful Mix) and Focus (Classical Beats), to name a few.

Humax Freeview Play Recorders deliver a multitude of subscription-free and top-up entertainment. Each model incorporates three digital tuners, allowing up to four programmes to be recorded at once while the user watches another live channel*. Up to 1,000 hours of recordings can be stored, giving owners almost unlimited capacity to capture their favourite programmes, series and movies.

Freeview Play provides 95% of the nation’s favourite TV free of charge, offering more than 70 TV channels, and access to over 20,000 hours of on demand entertainment. As well as the ability to watch, pause, rewind and record live TV, Freeview Play includes an intuitive seven day TV guide with scroll back functionality.
