Rob Bratby, formerly a partner at Arnold & Porter, has taken advantage of lockdown to set up Bratby Law – a boutique practice providing legal, regulatory and transactional advice for the telecoms, digital and data sectors.
Bratby, who previously set up Olswang Asia in Singapore in 2011 prior to the merger with CMS, said he believes that the changes to working practices initiated by lockdown mean this is the ideal moment to set up a virtual, cloud-based office. He said: ‘I think big-law is coming to an end. People have realised you don’t need an expensive office to provide great service. You can deconstruct law firms because clients want specialists and their expertise.’
He went on: ‘Lockdown has proven you don’t need a traditional office, you don’t even need to meet in person. Cloud technology enables me to offer high quality service wherever I am and wherever the client is. It is the relationship with clients that is important.’
Rob Bratby is a longstanding judge of the World Communication Awards, organised by Total Telecom. Find out more at worldcommsawards.com
