Communications service providers (CSPs) are on their individual paths towards 5G and a cloud-native era, leaving an extensive technology mix in their core networks. These hybrid architectures will co-exist for a while before a complete transformation to 5G happens. This means that the critical telecoms support services like Lawful Interception (LI) are going to be more difficult to manage as well as to keep it fit for the purpose of 5G. LI solutions would also need to be able to cover potentially new regulatory obligations that may emerge in the wake of new use cases for 5G.

Is your LI solution 5G-ready?

Building on industry best practices and an in-depth understanding of business risk and regulatory compliance, BAE Systems has launched interactive workshops on 5G LI standards compliance & operational readiness assessment. It is a two weeks program, designed for individual CSPs to help evaluate the impact of network and business transformation changes on legal compliance, standards adherence and operational processes.

Workshops include a comprehensive review of 5G Next-Gen Core (NGC) roadmap and LI design structure to assess its suitability for an elastic-scale distributed environment and sliced-based network. CSPs ‘5G LI readiness’ assessment is then presented in a dashboard format with easy to understand grading and intelligence needed to prioritise actions.

Matthew Meacham, BAE Systems’ Lawful Interception Product Manager says, “This assessment is not just about being compliant on Day 01 of 5G, it is evaluating the future evolution and feeding in how standards are changing to remain compliant. This will help CSPs adopt a long-term view to compliance and make changes accordingly. Our advice is prepared in a product agnostic manner with actionable measures and a pragmatic approach. We actively work with the Standards groups that enables us to be at the fore-front of industry changes and guide the customers appropriately. “
