5G emergency rescue services: revolutionising first responder health care provision
5G medical services are one of the use cases that governments around the world are most keen on pushing. 5G ambulances and 5G emergency services are at the cutting edge of the sector, potentially revolutionising first responder health care provision.
Zhao Jie, Vice president of First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University
"Thanks to the ultra-low latency and high bandwidth offered by 5G, Emergency rescue will undergo revolutionary changes. At present, our hospital has invested in reforming the emergency rescue vehicle under the condition of 5G. When the patient goes to the ambulance, it is equivalent to entering the emergency centre. "Said Zhao Jie, Vice president of First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University in 5G is ON summit, MWC 2019 Shanghai.
After the patient gets into the ambulance, the doctor can view the patient's previous medical records in real time, undertake an electrocardiogram, B-ultrasound checks and so on in the emergency rescue vehicle. The result can be transmitted to the emergency centre in real time, with the doctor providing real time guidance. If the patient is a particularly complicated case, a remote consultation system can be activated on the ambulance. The hospital experts can then conduct a multidisciplinary consultation on the patients, to guide the on-site treatment on the ambulance. This greatly shortens the rescue time.

A "life and death relay" was delivered among on-site ambulance, medical points in the exposition campus, local hospitals and urban hospitals, taking one hour and 38 minutes. In this World Horticultural Exposition, 5G emergency rescue services were able to dramatically improve response and treatment rates for the patient.
5G remote excavators: making mine work safer and more efficient
Mines are a notoriously high-risk environment in which to work and miners face several challenges. The first challenge is the frequent occurrence of security incidents, with the natural conditions of the mine being very bad, and even the most sophisticated drivers are at risk of being involved in safety accidents. The second is inefficient work, with even the most experienced of drivers being able to run at 10 km per hour. The third challenge is the high driver cost due to the high security risks involved.
Yang Hui, COO and Chief Engineer from Henan YueXin intelligence
“5G is ideal for mining. First, mines are generally located in remote areas where network coverage is weak, so a dedicated network needs to be constructed. 5G is a great option, as it is relatively easy to build a 5G network. Second, most of the mining machinery is constantly on the move, so a mobile network is needed. In addition, as blasting is frequently used in mining, fiber networks are not realistic. Third, in the case of surface mining, only a few cell sites are required to cover the entire mining site.” Said Yang Hui, COO and Chief Engineer from Henan YueXin intelligence, an unmanned intelligent machinery company.
Remote excavator in Luoyang mine, Henan Province, China
In the mining area of Luoyang in Henan Province, China, Huawei is working with the world's first 5G smart mine. 30 5G driverless vehicles are put into use, achieving a capacity of 500,000 tons per month. As a result, the mining process has become very intelligent and far safer. Prior to the use of 4G or WiFi, the ore excavator operator could only operate within a few dozen meters, meaning that the risk factor is still very high, and the operation speed of the truck is only 10 km per hour. With 5G technology, the excavator operator can sit in the office to operate the excavator and the speed can be increased to 30 km per hour, greatly improving production efficiency and production safety.
