3 Screen Solutions (3SS), leading provider of software solutions for set-top box (STB) and multiscreen digital entertainment, announces that it has been selected by Germany’s leading children’s broadcaster SUPER RTL for the relaunch of Kividoo, its SVOD service for youngsters aged 2-13 years.

After an evaluative selection process, 3SS was chosen to design and deploy apps with customized UIs for viewing on Android mobiles and tablets, iPhone and iPad, Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Fire tablets, Apple TV, smart TVs and web.

The relaunched Kividoo apps are powered by 3READY Kids, 3SS’ targeted front end and UI based on award-winning 3READY Multiscreen which adds extra kid-centric features and options for enhanced parental control. By choosing to deploy 3READY Control Center, SUPER RTL is equipped with a powerful customer experience management tool that provides real-time control over presentation of content, features and branding of all apps all from one location. So SUPER RTL can easily and efficiently A/B test, adapt and improve their product based on subscriber feedback.

Thanks to the new apps, Kividoo’s navigation and usability have significantly improved for its approximately 30,000 subscribers.

3READY Kids provides advanced custom features for enhanced parental control, with options and tools to help manage kids’ viewing. Multiple pre-defined viewing rules can be set and the parent can rest assured that viewing on a tablet or mobile can be controlled, and is always protected.

Parents of Kividoo fans can set multiple individual profiles, each with a distinctive avatar for each child. Content availability can be personalized for each profile based on gender or age, with rules defining appropriate age range, and daily usage limits, with whitelists and blacklists if they choose.

Kividoo also has a new smooth sign-up and onboarding user journey, with extra support for Amazon registration and login. Guest-mode allows users to enter the experience without sign-up to check out the offering before being asked for registration or login when triggering playback.

Download 2 Go is an offline mode for all video content and audiobooks for viewing and listening anywhere including on the move.

3SS led a multi-vendor integration team, connecting 3READY’s mediation layer with Kividoo’s back end and content management systems including CRM and payment platform. The project was optimized by the use of agile development principles including embracing SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework), the practical experience-based software development methodology.

The new improved Kividoo debuts in May 2019 with a staged rollout, progressively introducing new features for the service’s audiences in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
