Sao Paulo, Brasil / New York, USA, 4 December 2017
Sparkle, the international service provider of TIM Group and among top 10 global operators, announces the activation of the three fiber pairs Sparkle owns and manages on the new Seabras-1 cable, the first and only system directly connecting Sao Paulo, Brasil, to New York, USA.
Sparkle’s capacity on Seabras-1 supports the fast growing demand for advanced connectivity between North and South America, as well as it caters the needs of customers in Latin America that need to connect to rest of the world.
In fact, through Seabras-1 and the backhaul extensions from cable landing points to main PoPs in New York and Sao Paulo, Sparkle provides easy onward connectivity to rest of world: to Europe, Middle East and Africa from the New York metropolitan area through the trans-Atlantic cables, and to Asia via the trans-Pacific cables through high speed routes to the US West Coast.
The main advantages for Sparkle’s customers using Seabras-1 include lower latency on the US-Brazil route which has been developed on a path completely off of the hurricane risk area. The new route, fully integrated with Sparkle’s global backbone, also increases the overall redundancy of Sparkle’s Americas network as it provides a third option for diversification.
Latin America is witnessing a surge of high capacity deals and with this latest investment Sparkle is fully able to cater to this new demand, typically coming from OTTs and Content Providers, and satisfy the lower latency needs of specific segments like financial institutions and the gaming industry.
Sparkle is a therefore compelling choice for carriers, ISPs, content and application providers, as well as any other player that values a direct, low latency route between Brazil and the United States with easy onward connectivity and reliability to the rest of the world.
