CALLUP Strengthens Portfolio with New and Enhanced Products

CALLUP, a provider of Value Added Services (VAS) and Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions for the telecom industry, recently launched a remote management system for eSIMs (embedded SIM). The company also launched enhanced versions of its Visual Voice Mail (VVM), Voice Mail (VM) and SMS Center. CALLUP’s eSIM OTA is a remote management system for eSIMs (embedded SIMs) for both smartphones and IoT (Internet of Things) devices. eSIM OTA is a supplementary solution of CALLUP’s SIM OTA, the company’s existing remote management system for removable SIM cards. SIM OTA has been installed by major cellular operators in Europe, Latin America, Asia and Israel. eSIM OTA allows cellular operators to upload their SIM profile and to issue control commands to supporting devices and eSIMs embedded in smartphones and IoT devices, such as smart meters, home appliances, in-vehicle systems and personal devices. CALLUP’s eSIM OTA is a remote management system for eSIMs (embedded SIMs) for both smartphones and IoT (Internet of Things) devices. eSIM OTA is a supplementary solution of CALLUP’s SIM OTA, the company’s existing remote management system for removable SIM cards. SIM OTA has been installed by major cellular operators in Europe, Latin America, Asia and Israel.

eSIM OTA allows cellular operators to upload their SIM profile and to issue control commands to supporting devices and eSIMs embedded in smartphones and IoT devices, such as smart meters, home appliances, in-vehicle systems and personal devices. This enables remote life cycle management of the eSIM from its activation by a new user, through upgrades and updates, until the eSIM is canceled.

eSIM OTA supports the GSMA standard for subscription management, and includes both the SM-DP (Subscription Manager - Data Preparation) and SM-SR (Subscription Manager – Secure Routing) components. In addition, it includes an advanced GUI-configurable general OTA script that fits many cellular operators, for the activation and swap of eSIMs. The product’s GUI includes a variety of functionalities, such as eSIM profile editing, card editing, scenario and script editing and more.

eSIM OTA's automatic report subscription system enables the operator’s executives and technical professionals to subscribe to system reports and receive them directly to their email.

Like SIM OTA, eSIM OTA is based on CALLUP’s MDM+ platform, used for mobile device management. In addition to secured remote file and applet management, eSIM OTA includes advanced features, such as Steering of Roaming (making it possible to determine which mobile operator will be automatically selected by the subscriber's phone during roaming, according to priorities based on agreements between the cellular operators), location tracking and welcome SMS (sending an SMS to subscribers on joining a particular mobile operator while roaming).

The system will automatically repeat the update process on eSIMs cards that could not accept the original update due to various reasons, such as devices that were turned off or subscribers who were in roaming.

Browsing and managing voice messages easily in a familiar way, similar to email and SMS

CALLUP VVM (Visual Voice Mail) allows cellular subscribers to browse and manage their voice messages easily in a familiar way, similar to email and SMS. The new version includes a roaming awareness feature that requires approval before downloading voice messages when roaming. On the server side, the system runs on Google App Engine – making it highly available and scalable to any size of customer, without the need for any configuring. In addition, the enhanced version uses Google Speech API, automatically transcribing the voice messages to text. The subscriber can manage multiple greetings by using short names and personal greetings.

With CALLUP VVM, users can scan messages for caller, date, time, priority, etc., access them in any order and manage them in a quick and easy way.

The user can select any message and open it through a player, or use quick menu for various actions. The player allows jumping to a specific point in the message, or pausing it. SMNote that CALLUP VVM can integrate into any existing voice mail system.

CALLUP VVMC (Visual Voice Mail Client) supports voice-to-text translation, where voice messages that have been transcribed into text are appended to the relevant message, providing the user with the ability to choose whether to read the message, listen to it, or both. CALLUP VVMC supports mobile advertising visualization, and visual ad banners can appear on the VVM play screen. Mobile ad support depends on the operator’s network server capabilities.

CALLUP VMS™ Voice Mail System – a complete messaging and voice solution.

CALLUP VMS™ is an advanced voice messaging solution, which includes standard IVR access to the mailbox, in addition to HTML5 and mobile phone apps (aka Visual Voice Mail). CALLUP VMS™ employs industry standards, such as HTML5, SNMP and JAVA, in order to provide easy-to-use, intuitive administration applications. The system is fully virtualized, supporting any virtualization platform (for example VMWare vSphere or public clouds), high availability and hot backup solutions.

CALLUP VMS™ provides an HTML5 web-based SCE – Service Creation Environment – for editing of the IVR flows. The customer can control the call flow with a simple and intuitive interface, and without the need for change requests from the vendor.

CALLUP VMS™ is fully redundant, providing high service availability with a completely automatic failover process that requires no user intervention. It includes all major voice mail functions and is compatible with all major switches, demonstrating full interoperability. Additionally, it facilitates seamless migration from one switch vendor to another.

CALLUP VMS’s message control unit interfaces with voice and signaling network. The network monitoring system is accessible from anywhere on the network. CALLUP VMS’s web server duplicates messages from the storage device unit, and provides access to messages and administrator functions via web interface. The system’s open architecture enables unlimited integration to third party solutions.

Voice mail messages can be sent to the subscriber’s email account and may be heard via standard applications. The CALLUP VMS™ box owner may access his box from a landline telephone by entering his password during the playing of the box greetings. Having multiple mailboxes in the same account is optional.

New version of CALLUP’s SMS Center

Short Message Service Center (SMSC), a critical element in carriers’ networks that stores, forwards, converts and delivers SMS messages. The new version – CALLUP SMSC 5.0 – uses Apache™ Cassandra™, a highly-performant Big Data distributed database. Apache Cassandra powers at CALLUP SMSC 5.0 an integral data warehouse for SMS logs, capable of storing tens of thousands of records per second and allowing the search of SMS records in milliseconds, even if there are hundreds of millions of records.

Apache Cassandra is an Open Source, "NoSQL" distributed database management system designed to handle large amounts of data across many servers quickly and reliably, whether running in the Cloud or in a hybrid data store.

CALLUP SMSC is a feature-rich, high-performance and high quality SMSC platform. Utilizing state-of-the-art technology, it offers high capacity traffic and supports all network messaging technologies – including GSM MAP, SIP/IMS and IS-41. CALLUP SMSC is protected from overload, by constantly measuring the success rates, response times from other elements (STPs, HLRs etc.), and other algorithms, to maintain the best service level possible even under high loads.

SMSC 5.0 includes an advanced dashboard providing quick insights on the status and performance of the SMSC. Other improvements implemented in the messaging gateways provide higher throughput per node, making the system capable of managing tens of thousands of transactions per second (TPS) with minimal hardware requirements.

CALLUP SMSC enhances SMS security, including anti-spam and anti-spoof modules. SMSC prevents hackers from spamming subscribers, by checking the validity of their originating address with the VLR (Visitor Location Register) records in the HLR (Home Location Register). VLR/MSC (Mobile Switching Center) blacklists for override can be configured, as well as IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) ranges and target addresses.
