Promising and pragmatic commercial network implementation

Over the last seven years, ZTE have taken SDN from pre-research to commercial application. Over the last seven years, ZTE have taken SDN from pre-research to commercial application. During this period, ZTE was the first vendor to pass the SDN global remote interoperability test of the BII Group engineering center - the multi-vendor heterogeneous interoperability test for SDN held by the EANTC (European Advanced Networking Test Center) - and gain consistency certification from the ONF standards organization.

ZTE also won the 2016 Transport Network SDN Interoperability Standardization Best Practice Award at the 2017 China SDN/NFV Conference.

This award recognises ZTE’s work in cloud network virtualization and integrated physical network evolution. ZTE have launched a commercial cloud network integrated solution to protect investment in the existing network infrastructure, and have taken the lead in putting it into practice. This clearly demonstrates both foresight and practical commercial network implementation by ZTE, illustrated through:
- Working with operators on the Elastic SD-WAN cloud network integrated solution based on GRO decoupling orchestration layer + ZENIC WAN control layer + V6000/MCG infrastructure.
- Working with the channel system on the Elastic ICT integrated solution based on MICT-OS UME + MCG.
- Building a third-party application eco-system based on MCG open platform, and combining operators/vendors/third-party VNF applications and developers/industry customers in the multi-win business model.

Elastic SD-WAN commercial solution
The ZTE Elastic SD-WAN solution provides enterprise access services for operators. It takes the on-demand network as the starting point to offer a cloud/network one-stop service. Unified network collaboration and service orchestration of the bearer network and DC cloud resources. It provides enterprise customers with fast-provisioning, customizable, automatic, differentiated, high-quality, and secure cloud access/interconnection services.

Through the top-level operation view, the solution provides multi-tenant network slicing to achieve network visualization and on-demand services. It uses SDN centralized control for centralized configuration and global orchestration for inter-domain ETE network collaboration. And it employs the NFV to provide network value-added services, self-provisioning and on-demand purchasing, reducing CAPEX and OPEX.

Elastic ICT commercial solution
To meet digital transformation demands of enterprise customers, the ZTE Elastic ICT integrated solution adopts the minimal deployment principles in network architecture design. The MICT-OS UME integrated with management system simplifies standard architecture, and retains VM lifecycle management, VNF application creation, service chain orchestration, one-click deployment and other core functions to offer the minimal top-level orchestration system. The MCG 5300 routing & computing equipment integrates VNF functions such as route forwarding, virtual firewall, access control, WAN optimization, and industry typical applications to offer the minimal NE device.

The ZTE Elastic ICT integrated solution is based on the deployment architecture of MCG integrated virtualization and minimal top-level orchestration which enables basic communication networks of remote branches to make quick responses to headquarter’s innovative service policies, and solves the problems for the enterprise network of private devices, such as high deployment cost, long period, and complex maintenance.

VNF ecosystem construction
Based on the MCG platform, ZTE has established a third-party VNF open lab and provides a powerful open cloud and application platform. Application service providers can quickly open up value-added services for industry applications, and distribute them to customers through cloud application stores. They can form a complete ecosystem and product chain from platforms and applications to distribution channels. Now ZTE is working with more than 50 application providers, covering retail, manufacturing, transportation and other enterprise applications. By driving equipment vendors and VNF vendors to work together, new business operation and cooperation models promote a multi-win situation for equipment vendors, third-party VNF vendors, operators and enterprise users and builds a promising VNF ecosystem.
