ZTE Corporation, a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, has announced that it has launched a commercial trial of voice over LTE (VoLTE) high definition (HD) voice services in Henan province for China Unicom.

“We’re pleased to be the exclusive provider for China Unicom as they launch enhanced VoLTE service in Henan,” said Gong Dehua, vice president of Core Network Products at ZTE. “This project is testament to ZTE’s industry leading expertise in VoLTE and the solutions that dramatically improve user experience.”

ZTE has provided China Unicom with end to end VoLTE solutions, including voice over WIFI (VoWiFi), VoLTE HD video and audio and Rich Communications Services (RCS) for China Unicom. 4G subscribers in Henan can now enjoy HD voice and the improved call quality and high fidelity it enables.

The Henan VoLTE project is one of the seven trial sites in China and is the first province to realise VoLTE commercialisation for China Unicom. As a result of ZTE’s rich experience in building VoLTE networks, the construction has successfully passed tests in multiple phases, a feat that China Unicom has praised. Additionally, during construction ZTE helped China Unicom establish First Call on the existing network infrastructure, enabling the telecommunications operator to gain a leading position as a provider of VoLTE networks.

ZTE is committed to industry-leading innovations in IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) and VoLTE solutions to help operators deliver converged communication services. ZTE has received more than 210 contracts for commercial and trial IMS networks with a combined capacity for 220 million subscribers across the world, including deployments in North America, Spain, Singapore, Poland, Saudi Arabia and the Philippines.
