Comcast Business announced an extension of its advanced fiber-based network to two business districts in Napa, California. Specifically intended for small businesses and organizations requiring more bandwidth capacity, these services are designed to improve productivity and enhance business performance. Comcast Business installed more than 14 miles of fiber, both underground and aerial, to the industrial areas which will provide almost 450 businesses with the opportunity to increase their Internet speeds up to 10 gigabits per second (Gbps).
One business district is the Napa Airpark, east of Napa County Airport, where Comcast Business has installed fiber to 111 buildings hosting 295 businesses in the area between North Airport Road and North Kelly Road. The second business district is three miles to the north near Napa Valley Memorial Park. Comcast Business has extended fiber to 89 buildings hosting 252 businesses in this second industrial area, bounded by Basalt Road and Kaiser Road on the west, and Napa Vallejo Highway 221 on the east.
The Meritage Resort and Spa was the first location in the Napa area to receive Comcast’s fiber-based Internet services.
“We have been very happy with the service we have received from Comcast Business and we look forward this partnership continuing,” said Michael Palmer, general manager of The Meritage Resort and Spa. “We are pleased to see Comcast’s continued investment in the Napa business community, providing many businesses with critical access to this new technology.”
The expansion to the two business parks comes as a result of a more than $2.5 million investment from Comcast and allows the business areas, home to more than 445 businesses, to receive fiber-based Internet for the first time, as well as reliable IP-based voice services.
“We are thrilled Comcast has made this investment in our community,” said Jill Techel, Mayor of Napa. “In order to accommodate and support new job creation in the Napa community, it is imperative for the business community to have access to high-speed broadband. Comcast’s commitment guarantees Napa has the infrastructure to continue to expand and prosper.”
“Comcast Business is committed to giving local business owners a choice for their telecommunications needs,” said Ted Girdner, Vice President of Comcast Business for California. “This extension of our world-class fiber network will enable even more businesses in Napa to grow and expand, while simultaneously supporting their efforts to provide superior customer experiences.”
Comcast’s network features a 100 Gbps backbone and expanded local footprint through Ethernet over HFC, offering bandwidth up to 10 Gbps that can be scaled in increments and offered in three different classes of service. Comcast Business’s services are backed by strict service level agreements and monitored 24x7x365 from Comcast’s dedicated Network Operations Centers.
