iPass Inc. (NASDAQ: IPAS), the world’s largest Wi-Fi network, announced today its partnership with French Wi-Fi specialist Nomosphere, providing all iPass users with access to wireless hotspots in airports operated by VINCI Airports in France. The airports include, in particular, Nantes Atlantique, Grenoble Isère, Chambéry Savoie and Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne. As part of the partnership, iPass users will also get access to Smart City Wi-Fi in the Belgian city of Liege.
In addition, the partnership provides iPass users with access to wireless hotspots in 128 top rail stations across France operated by SNCF, including the main terminals in Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Lille-Flandres and Avignon TGV. This partnership further expands iPass’ existing network in France, which covers popular locations such as international airports and hotels.
The iPass service simplifies connectivity for the “Wi-Fi first” user, allowing them to be better connected wherever they go, while also taking control of data roaming costs and avoiding bill shock. Through a single log-in, users can obtain automatic and unlimited access to cost-effective and secure global Wi-Fi via smartphones, tablets and laptops.
“In today’s ‘Wi-Fi first’ world, people want to be able to stay connected via Wi-Fi while on the move,” said Patricia Hume, chief commercial officer at iPass. “We are delighted to have partnered with Nomosphere to extend our network and provide our users with simple, unlimited access to high-quality, secure Wi-Fi services across French airports and rail stations."
“Today, Wi-Fi is an essential part of an international traveler’s toolkit,” said Nicolas Leconte, marketing & business development director at Nomosphere. “Our partnership with iPass ensures that its users can enjoy reliable access to our Wi-Fi hotpots when traveling across France via train or plane. We are pleased to be working with iPass and are looking forward to helping travelers stay connected and productive.”
