Comcast Business today announced an extension of its advanced fiber network to the Modesto Business Park, located northwest of the intersection of McHenry Avenue and Pelandale Avenue. The extension is designed to help improve productivity and enhance business performance for the growing base of small businesses and organizations in the Modesto community that require more capacity to meet their connectivity needs. Comcast installed more than four miles of fiber, both underground and aerial, to the business community.

The high-performance fiber-based network will provide businesses with Ethernet capacity up to 10 Gbps, which is critical for data intensive interactions. The expansion comes as a result of a more than $580,000 investment from Comcast and allows the business park, home to more than 280 businesses, to receive fiber-based Internet for the first time, as well as reliable IP-based voice services.

“We are thrilled Comcast has made this investment in our community,” said Garrad Marsh, Mayor of Modesto. “We know businesses must have access to high-speed broadband in order to expand or relocate. Comcast’s commitment ensures Modesto has the infrastructure to support new job creation and economic opportunities.”

“Earlier this year we challenged ourselves to become more efficient and profitable in our business, because phone and Internet services were a big line item in our monthly budget,” said Jason Gordo, Managing Director for United Capital in Modesto. “We found Comcast Business to offer the most affordable and reliable phone service in our area. In addition, we have found Comcast Business Voice to be a comprehensive and easy-to-use system.”

“Many commercial areas in California’s Central Valley lack access to high-speed Internet, which limits the ability for local companies to achieve their full potential,” said Ted Girdner, Vice President of Comcast Business for California. “This expansion will enable companies in Modesto to grow and expand their businesses, while simultaneously supporting their efforts to provide superior customer experiences.”

All of Comcast Business’ services are delivered over an advanced network that spans 145,000 miles and features a 100 Gbps backbone. Bandwidth is available up to 10 Gbps and can be scaled in increments and offered in three different classes of service, backed by strict service level agreements and monitored 24x7x365 from Comcast’s dedicated Network Operations Centers. Comcast Business was the first service provider in the world to offer Metro Ethernet Forum CE 2.0 certified Ethernet services and was also the first service provider to achieve all three of the previous CE 1.0 certifications (MEF 9, 14 and 18).

Comcast Business recently received four Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Ethernet Excellence Awards, including the prestigious Best Service of the Year for North America.
