Genband, a leading developer of real time communications software solutions, today announced that in one year its award-winning Kandy communications Platform as a Service (PaaS) has grown at breakneck speed and is currently powering more than 15 million users. Kandy, which includes platforms such as the fring Over-the-Top solution, is helping communications service providers, enterprises, independent software vendors and systems integrators rapidly deploy real time communications apps designed for today’s mobile-first economy. With more than 1,500 customer accounts and 50 partners including global brands such as IBM, Deloitte and SAP, Kandy is helping its ecosystem partners and customers bring thousands of innovative use cases to market.

“We are intensely focused on enabling our ecosystem partners and customers with the latest in real time communications technology,” said Paul Pluschkell, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Cloud Services for GENBAND and Kandy Founder. “With Kandy we are changing the game of how service providers, enterprises and every day individuals communicate by creating an easy-to-use, rapid service creation platform.”

Pluschkell added: “The beauty and uniqueness of Kandy lies in the simplicity and speed-to-market it offers. I like to compare Kandy to Netflix, who every day is adding value for their subscribers, whether it’s through their own original content or providing access to new movies coming online every day. Their model is simple; convenient; quick and more importantly it’s what subscribers want. Kandy, which we are constantly adding new features and functionalities to, allows each customer the ability to simply turn it on, enjoy the platform and build and add their own premium services as needed.”

Customer Deployments:
• Built on the Kandy platform, the fring over-the-top (OTT) solution has helped progressive service providers all over the world (M2 Dodo in Australia, Bouygues Telecom in France and PLDT in the Philippines) maintain and grow their subscriber bases.

Leveraging Kandy’s WebRTC technology MindMe makes it easier for an individual to reach out to a therapist or counselor in real time and contextually communicate without resorting to standard telephone counseling or going to a website.
• Skywriter MD is leveraging Kandy to power its revolutionary technology by providing physicians with real time, virtual Electronic Health Record (EHR) assistance services via the ability to see and select an available Skywriter (virtual scribe), on-screen and voice collaboration, client side voice recording and replay, and rich messaging.

“Giving physicians the ability to focus on patient care without having to worry about required medical record documentation is a real breakthrough in the healthcare industry,” said Tracy Rue, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Skywriter MD. “Kandy offers us a powerful, real time communications solution that allows us to improve the quality of EHR documentation in a non-invasive or obstructive manner, while dramatically increasing the accuracy and safety of documentation and prescriptions.”
