Hull based wireless internet provider Connexin has signed a £600,000 contract to connect 19 of its wireless hub sites to CityFibre’s 60km ‘Hull CORE’ pure fibre network in the city.

The 10-year deal will significantly boost internet speeds and network efficiency for thousands of customers that use Connexin’s services in Hull. It will allow Connexin to substantially increase its network capacity as it continues to cement itself as a competitive provider of broadband connectivity to the city’s 200,000 business and residential internet users.

Connexin’s deal is the latest evolution in the rollout of CityFibre’s CORE network in Hull, made possible by a landmark project to deliver mobile backhaul connectivity to mobile operators EE and Three UK. In March, another wireless internet provider, Purebroadband, signed a deal with CityFibre worth £500,000 to connect their own wireless sites to the network.

Speaking about the partnership, Furqan Alamgir, CEO at Connexin said: “This landmark partnership between CityFibre and Connexin is a watershed moment for telecoms in Hull. In a market that in the past has been dominated by one company we are now finally starting to forge ahead with real change.
“We have committed to spending £3m over the next three years on our network infrastructure and coverage; this partnership with CityFibre is the first stage in that process. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our loyal customers for their continued support; we have listened carefully and are set to revolutionise and expand our entire network across the city to create something truly special.”

James Thomas, director of operations at CityFibre added: "Like any city, the demand for solid, reliable and affordable connectivity amongst Hull’s residents and businesses has never been greater. CityFibre provides a long overdue and credible fibre infrastructure alternative in the local market, increasing competition and enabling better services for all customers. We’re delighted to welcome Connexin aboard and to be able to provide the reliable fibre based infrastructure they need to deliver their plans.”
