Cambridge Broadband Networks (CBNL), the global leader in licensed point-to-multipoint (PMP), has today announced a value-added distributor (VAD) agreement with ConVergence Technologies, Inc, a leading telecoms distributor. Under the agreement, ConVergence will offer its customers CBNL’s VectaStar PMP microwave platform, expanding distribution of the platform across the US and wider Americas region.

The agreement comes amidst unprecedented demand for carrier-grade wireless connectivity in the US and marks the positive uptake of VectaStar in the region. The latest 600Mb/s VectaStar FCC variant, launched in March 2015, builds on the platforms success which has already seen it deployed across multiple states and geographies for backhaul and enterprise access.

By utilizing licensed spectrum, VectaStar will offer ConVergence customers a guaranteed quality of service and a cost-effective route to transform hub capacity up to 14.4Gb/s. With total cost of ownership savings of up to 50 percent compared to fiber and point-to-point, VectaStar offers carrier-grade performance associated with licensed spectrum while delivering a revolutionary business case and extremely fast time to market associated with PMP architecture.

VectaStar can be provided alongside LMDS 28GHz spectrum in the US. This streamlined process supports operators with a quick time to market, made possible through CBNL’s close collaboration with the leading spectrum holders in the US.

The new partnership is set to strengthen CBNL’s global market-leading position, which has seen VectaStar deployed across 42 countries, including for seven of the world’s top ten largest mobile operators.

Marc Kruer, President of ConVergence Technologies, Inc, said:

“We are very pleased to have partnered with CBNL, the industry leader in licensed PMP microwave. Their long history of successfully serving tier 1 operators across the globe has enabled them to bring a field-proven platform to the US and wider Americas region. We believe this will be a highly valuable tool to support our customers in building cost-effective and carrier-class networks.”

Lionel Chmilewsky, Chief Executive Officer at CBNL, said:

“CBNL is thrilled to have signed a partnership agreement with such an esteemed and well qualified distributor as ConVergence. Their value-added services are the perfect complement to CBNL’s industry leading technology and will offer customers a ground-breaking business case and proven route to market. This marks the continued growth of CBNL in the US and we’re excited to bring the benefits of VectaStar to a growing customer base in the region.”
