Markley Group, universally recognised as a world class mission-critical telecommunications and data centre operator, announced that it has utilised the Quareo physical layer management (PLM) system infrastructure configuration manager (ICM) from TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity, for improved infrastructure management, security and increased network visibility.

With Quareo PLM, Markley Group’s customers have the ability to better track connectivity all the way from the cross-connect room to their suites. TE’s Quareo PLM solution also enables Markley Group to more easily extend carrier access out to its customers’ suites because it will know exactly which ports are coming into the cross-connect room from which carriers.

The Q-Frame installed at Markley Group’s One Summer Street facility houses TE’s Q4000 managed network chassis and blades, which supports the Quareo PLM solution. Using Quareo-enabled fibre jumpers, unique real-time data from embedded microchips is recorded at the time of installation. This information is then utilised by the Quareo ICM software to explore, discover and map all connections and automatically record any changes in real time. Using Quareo PLM, Markley Group can view, manage and audit all of the fibre connections within the frame and beyond. This helps to provide customers with security and business continuity by making every interruption, intrusion or outage instantaneously visible via graphic display and reporting tools.

“The Quareo PLM system provides a level of visibility, automation and accountability to the physical layer of the network that is necessary to support cyber physical security concerns,” said Gene Malone, product manager, BUSINESS, at TE. “We’re pleased that Markley Group recognised TE’s commitment to security. The ICM Quareo PLM system is one of the first automated infrastructure management solutions to be certified for compliance with the Department of Defense (DoD) security requirements, as tested and verified by the DoD information assurance certification accreditation process.”

Markley Group customers and carriers can also now access an order portal on the company’s website and enter a work request that is automatically loaded into the ICM software and routed to the appropriate Markley Group technician for dispatch. Once the work is completed, Markley Group’s technicians update the request on their smartphones using the ICM mobile application. The customer is then automatically notified that the work has been completed as soon as the order is closed.

“Providing customers with what they require to be successful has always been of the utmost importance to Markley Group,” said Jeffrey D. Markley, CEO of Markley Group. “By teaming with TE – one of the world leaders in connectivity – we can empower customers with the visibility, flexibility, security and management tools they need.”
