AppSense, the global leader in user environment management (UEM) enabling over 3,500 enterprises across 7.5 million workspaces, today announced updates to its Environment Manager and DataNow products, integrating the two products to fully automate user management, migration and recovery and additional new features to increase user productivity, manage risk and reduce costs

AppSense Environment Manager enables users to roam between traditional PCs and virtual environments with full personalization and policy-based desktop configuration, while DataNow adds centralized user data management, so users’ files also follow them as they move between workspaces. The latest Environment Manager 8.6 and DataNow 3.5 releases integrate the two products, creating the only UEM solution capable of fully automating management, migration and recovery of all aspects of the user workspace, including personalization, desktop policies, and now user data.

DataNow client settings and configuration variables can now be controlled in a point-and-click manner directly from the Environment Management console, giving IT teams a fully automated approach for centralizing user data, reducing the cost and complexity of key desktop migrations and recoveries.

"The combined capabilities of AppSense Environment Manager and DataNow helped us accelerate user logon times to under 60 seconds and deliver simpler, more reliable data access to our users. Users have a personalized experience and access to all of their files from any device, and the number of profile and data corruption help desk calls plummeted,” said Apo Hagopian, CTO of Littler Mendelson, a leading employment and labor law firm with offices worldwide. “The feedback from our staff has been excellent, and these latest enhancements to Environment Manager and DataNow will even further simplify our desktop management efforts."

In addition to new integration points with DataNow, Environment Manager 8.6 adds a broad range of enhancements, including:
• Enhanced network triggers that give IT teams more flexibility to dynamically apply desktop policies based on context.
• An improved user self-service experience, integrated directly into the Windows system tray.
• Several new data import, template creation, and troubleshooting tools for administrators.
• A new “app team” user role that allows for tightly controlled delegation of IT responsibilities to application packaging teams.
• Significant reductions to backend infrastructure requirements, doubling the capacity of Environment Manager’s personalization server and reducing database size by 70%

DataNow 3.5 strengthens AppSense unique ability to provide policy-controlled access to existing storage investments with a 100% native user experience. New file sync exclusions enable IT to implement granular policy control over how files are stored and accessed, simplifying key IT workflows and providing richer file sync status information to users.

“User environment management is about much more than profile management and desktop personalization. Doing it right means giving IT teams control over all aspects of the workspace and giving users anywhere access to everything they need to be productive, including their data,” said Jed Ayres, SVP of Marketing at AppSense. “These latest innovations in Environment Manager and DataNow further AppSense’s lead as the only company that delivers a comprehensive UEM solution.”

Both Environment Manager and DataNow work seamlessly across all desktop delivery platforms – physical PC, virtual desktops and cloud. The latest releases will be offered through AppSense channel partners, both on a stand-alone basis and as part of AppSense’s comprehensive DesktopNow Plus product suite.
