Sunrise will be installing a new, IP-based telephony solution with a Cisco infrastructure at the University of Basel. In the future, landline calling at the university, which has about 4000 voice ports (telephone lines), will be run on the university’s existing LAN network.

The University of Basel had issued a public bid for the project in August of 2014 and eventually selected Sunrise as its partner. The university was impressed with Sunrise’s complete service package, which includes maintenance and follow-up orders, in addition to implementing the project.

The University of Basel is an internationally renowned university that continuously shows excellence in the areas of research and teaching. Founded in 1460, it is the oldest university in Switzerland and can be proud of its more than 550-year successful history.

“We were able to gain the University of Basel as a customer as a result of our technical expertise, flexible offers and the excellent price-performance ratio,” says Markus Naef, Chief Commercial Officer at Sunrise. Business Sunrise has about 6000 clients and offers business customers a complete range of mobile, landline network, Internet and data services. Its customers include small and medium-sized businesses as well as large-scale companies, such as Swiss Post, Zurich Airport and SBB (Swiss Federal Railways).
