UK telcos call on Ofcom to curb BT's 'monopoly'

Association that includes Vodafone, Sky and TalkTalk among its members says incumbent is stifling competition in business services market.

A U.K. telecoms operator group has called on the regulator to take action to boost competition in the market, with a particular focus on curbing the dominance of incumbent BT. The UK Competitive Telecommunications Association (UKCTA) at the weekend issued a series of reports recommending that Ofcom review a number of areas of the U.K. market. In addition to tackling competition concerns, the industry body has asked the regulator to look at the quality of service provided by BT's Openreach unit and to force BT to open up its passive infrastructure to competition…
