Lenovo buys Moto and Level 3 closes TW Telecom buy, but other industry takeovers are still up in the air.

Barely a day goes by in the telecoms space that doesn't bring with it a new or recycled rumour of some sort of merger or acquisition. That proved to be the case this week, but we also had some hard news on the M&A front. On Thursday once-powerful U.S. mobile phone maker Motorola became a Lenovo company. The Chinese vendor closed the US$2.91 billion acquisition of Moto it announced in January and made it clear that it has lofty ambitions in the smartphone space.
