In a time when healthcare providers are facing increased scrutiny to digitize medical records, cut costs and improve operational efficiencies, Comcast Business today announced that Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System (SVMHS), the region’s state-of-the-art integrated network of health care programs, services and facilities, has selected Comcast Business Ethernet Dedicated Internet, Ethernet Private Line (EPL) and Comcast Business Internet to provide high-capacity, reliable Internet connectivity and expanded bandwidth support. With Comcast Business’s Internet based connection solution, SVMHS is able to provide reliable and functional broadband access to partners and affiliates across even the most remote sites, ensuring that physicians are able to access the critical information they need to provide the highest level of care for their patients at a fast rate.
SVMHS employs more than 1,600 people and has a medical staff of 300 board-certified physicians across a range of specialties. The facility sees approximately 98,000 outpatient visits per year and another 10,000 admissions, The healthcare system manages more than 300,000 medical records across the county and provides a spoke connection to dozens of practices and sites across the Central Coast. SVMHS’s new Internet-focused solution dramatically decreases service latency and enables SVMHS to double the number of physicians and facilities it is able to support, which is critical in today’s environment when healthcare providers are pressured to do more with fewer resources.
“With the support of Comcast Business’ Ethernet services, we’re able to support more healthcare providers across the region and provide them with reliable access to the information they need to provide world-class healthcare service to their patients,” said John Hornyak, network engineering manager at Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System. “It was great to find a provider that was able to offer a cost-effective and scalable solution.”
“Innovative, reliable and cost-efficient solutions are critical to healthcare providers in today’s environment,” said Ted Girdner, vice president at Comcast Business, California region. “SVMHS plays such a critical role across the Central Coast community, and we were glad to provide a solution that enhances its current system to deliver the highest level of healthcare services to patients and partners across the county.”
