Connected cars… and cows

Tracking livestock is a valuable service for farmers, but for telcos the big money is in the automotive space.

You know what it's like when you just can't remember where you left your livestock? No? Me neither. But apparently it is a problem for some people. Fear not though, there is a solution. Mobile satellite services provider Globalstar on Monday announced that it will provide the transmitters for FindMySheep, a Norwegian government initiative to track livestock. The service began as a way of mitigating sheep loss in Norway (now there's a sentence I never thought I would write for this publication)…
