EE to trial LTE Broadcast this quarter

U.K. operator says there is money to be made from broadcasting content, especially sport, but managing network traffic will be primary driver.

EE plans to begin trialling LTE Broadcast services in the immediate future with a view to a commercial rollout from around 2016, depending on the availability of devices. The U.K. mobile operator believes there is revenue to be had from LTE Broadcast, but in the early stages the impetus for operators to deploy the technology will stem from network congestion…
