Actel (Active Telecommunications), one of the leaders in mobile Value Added Services provider (VAS) in the MENA region, with over 20+ connections with Mobile Operators, recently announced the launch of its mobile payment solution for the first time in the Middle East in collaboration with top online gaming merchants. Mr. Elie Bejjani, Actel’s CEO comments on this launch: “In an effort to fulfill our renewed ambitions, we have decided to directly participate in OTT (Over-The-Top) market by offering them an additional payment option for consumers linking them directly to their mobile bill.”
Through “ActivePayments, Actel will provide a vast number of online users a secure, reliable, and instant way to purchase from several merchants and make in-app purchases without the need to rely on credit cards or prepaid cards. Purchases made using “ActivePayments” will be debited from subscribers’ mobile bill or deducted from their prepaid balance by selecting the goods to be purchased online, entering their mobile number, and finally verifying their identity using a dynamic, secure and simple PIN authentication method.
It has never been easier for merchants to deploy their services by implementing “ActivePayments” SDK into their websites or mobile Apps, thus gaining access to all mobile subscribers in Egypt, UAE, Kuwait, and Lebanon. Mr. Bejjani added “the DCB market has substantial growth potentials, but regulatory hurdles and competitive pressures from other payment technologies will be challenging for us to win our share of the payments market.”
By offering a convenient way to pay for purchased items, Direct Carrier Billing (DCB) improves the customer's mobile commerce experience. DCB increases conversion rates and sales, thus gradually adopted by game publishers, digital content providers, app stores, app developers and virtual merchants.
Top content providers, publishers and aggregators alike from all over the world have already seized the opportunity to showcase “ActivePayments” and exploit its high penetration and security, allowing both merchants and mobile subscribers to implement.
