BT's sport strategy pays dividends as consumer business booms

U.K. incumbent reports strong set of results, particularly for consumer and Global Services businesses; outlines 4G plans.

BT on Thursday posted a strong set of quarterly and full-year results, drawing attention in particular to its TV and broadband businesses, which helped its consumer division turn in one of its best performances in recent years and went some way towards silencing critics of its hefty spend on premium sports content. The U.K. incumbent's consumer arm reported its "best quarter for over 10 years," BT CEO Gavin Patterson said at the telco's results presentation in London.
