Leaving with your handset held high

Nokia exits mobile phones, DoCoMo quits India and C&W says 'cheerio' to Monaco.

This week's news headlines were dominated by tales of departure, and I'm not just talking about Manchester United's decision to show its new manager David Moyes the door, a story that inexplicably dominated the news in the U.K. for days on end. Nokia's exit from the mobile phones game was less hasty, having been on the cards since it agreed to sell its devices business to Microsoft in September. When the deal closed on Friday Nokia revealed it will likely get slightly more than the €5.44 billion Microsoft initially said it would pay; more details to follow at the vendor's Q1 results announcement next week…
