Bouygues increases its offer for SFR

French telco's new bid adds €1 billion to its valuation of SFR, showing how much it needs to win Vivendi over.

Bouygues on Thursday demonstrated just how desperate it is to acquire SFR when it announced that it had upped the cash element of its bid by €800 million. The French conglomerate is now offering Vivendi €11.3 billion in cash to take control of its SFR unit, which it hopes to merge with Bouygues Telecom to create a stronger competitor in the mobile market. However, it has reduced the stake in the combined entity that it is prepared to cede to Vivendi to 43% from 46%…
