Openwave launches Motify to drive customer engagement

Openwave Mobility, a software innovator enabling operators to manage and monetize mobile data, today launched MOTIFY, enabling operators to alert users in real-time when it matters. This cloud-based, push notification solution uniquely empowers mobile operators to notify subscribers before incurring additional charges such as when nearing or exceeding their data limits or using data while roaming – all through an existing self-care application resident on the device.

As well as charging notifications, MOTIFY can also be used by operators to reach subscribers with user-relevant promotions – driving new revenue streams. For example, offering data and video promotions ahead of an important sporting event or discounts to promote a new smartphone – all on ‘a first click first served’ basis. And crucially, MOTIFY enables operators to track and measure the success of each engaging offer and event.

MOTIFY’s benefits include:

Currently, operators primarily use SMS messages or emails to alert subscribers, both of which may be time delayed or simply result in the message getting lost in the noise. This lack of real-time engagement can result in ‘bill-shock’ and in any case, many tablets do not even support SMS.
