Gilat Satcom, an established provider of fibre and satellite connectivity in Africa, today announced major improvements to its shared service which will provide home users and small offices with the fastest, most reliable and cost-effective satellite connectivity in Africa.

Gilat Satcom’s Aguila 3rd Generation is the result of years of R&D by the Gilat Satcom team. Re-engineered from the ground up, the new Aguila service provides customers with:

• A Fair Access Policy (FAP) which is unmatched across Africa. As part of the FAP, Gilat Satcom’s Committed Information Rate (CIR) is up to 100% higher than the current average in Africa. A Committed Information Rate (CIR) guarantees customers pre-determined amounts of bandwidth at all times regardless of how busy the shared link gets.

• A high-quality service at an extremely cost-effective price – Customers using Gilat Satcom’s Aguila 3rd Generation are paying the equivalent of the industry’s price point for a 1:10 service but are benefiting from a service with performance which is better than 1:5.

Dan Zajicek, Gilat Satcom’s CEO, said “At Gilat Satcom we always aim to provide the best possible quality of service. We have built our reputation on providing reliable, high-speed satellite connectivity accompanied by excellent and responsive customer service. Our new Aguila 3rd generation service is by far superior to any other shared satellite services in Africa”.

Gilat Satcom’s Aguila service is available today on both the C and Ku-band.
