Alierta quits Telecom Italia board to make a point

Two of Telefonica's top executives stepped down from the board of Telecom Italia late last week in a bid to demonstrate to Brazilian authorities that the two European incumbents remain separate entities. Telefonica CEO Cesar Alierta and chief operating officer Julio Linares have resigned as directors of Telecom Italia in the wake of an objection from Brazil's antitrust agency earlier this month over their ownership of two of the country's four main mobile operators…
