Zamir Telecom today announced the expansion of its senior management team as the company continues to expand its business in the UK, Bangladesh, Asia and Africa.

Headquartered in the UK with offices in Kenya, and Bangladesh Zamir Telecom is a fast-growing company with a diverse portfolio of pioneering products and services in both the B2B and B2C telco markets. Its wholesale business is currently establishing new interconnections, and exploring other MVNO opportunities in both Africa and the Middle East.

Dr Hazim Al-Rawi joins Zamir as Acting CTO and Business Development Director. He is responsible for identifying gaps in the market and helping Zamir’s R&D team develop new innovative products. A seasoned leader with 20+ years of international industry experience, Dr Al-Rawi has held senior roles at numerous high profile companies, most recently at renewable energy specialist The SUKA Group. He was previously Vice President of Sales and General Manager of the East of the Middle East region at Nokia Siemens Networks; Director of Networks Services Presales EMEA at Motorola; and has held other roles at both Motorola and Lucent Technologies. Dr Al-Rawi obtained his PhD in Microwave Antennas for Mobile Communications from the University of Bath, UK.

Humaiun Kobir joins Zamir as Head of External Affairs and Communications with the remit of supporting the organisation’s continued expansion into new countries – where he will be responsible for managing the relationships with overseas regulators, government bodies and senior business executives. He will oversee the company’s strategic communications which includes media and public relations. Humaiun brings a wealth of experience joining Zamir from the Lewisham Executive Mayor’s Office, where he managed internal/external strategic relationships and Cabinet business. He previously worked within the Mayor of London’s Economic Development Agency as a Strategy Assistant to the Chief Executive and worked on numerous projects and programmes attracting inward investment to London. He read politics, international relations and management at the Universities of Sussex, the LSE and Cambridge.

Javed Ansari has been in post at Zamir as Head of Legal and Human Resources. He is a Barrister of the UK’s Highest Court with extensive experience in people management. He joins from Meridian Law Associates which provides consultancy on a range of matters including procurement, immigration, leadership and human resources management. Previously he was a senior lawyer at Lambeth Council where he received the Lambeth Chief Executive's 'Fresh Award' for outstanding achievements in local government.
