Fixed, mobile broadband go head-to-head in UK countryside

EE switches on LTE in Cumbria while BT trumpets Superfast Cornwall achievements.

Fixed and mobile broadband went head-to-head in the U.K. countryside on Monday with separate rural network-themed announcements from BT and EE. EE launched a fixed wireless LTE service in the remote county of Cumbria in the northwest of England, while BT detailed the latest developments in its Superfast Cornwall project in the far southwest of the country. Cornwall "is at the very forefront" of broadband, declared BT Openreach CEO Liv Garfield, at a presentation at the telco's London headquarters…
