Screens are everywhere nowadays: on train station platforms and bus concourses, in a hotel lobby and even at the supermarket checkout. They inform us about new products and offers or simply help us to pass time. At a cost of only €199, Ennova Research’s Red-V One is a plug and play stand-alone media box with a digital signage light architecture that enables retailers and companies to design their own programs for showcasing on screens around store or in reception areas and meeting rooms.
With the handy box videos, picture galleries and even Web content such as YouTube channels, RSS feeds and Twitter tweets can be reproduced. In retail, for example, the Red-V One digital signage box can be used to present the latest offers, prices and inventories attractively in full HD at a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
The device is simply connected straight to a screen or beamer by an HDMI cable and runs either on its own or via W-LAN or Ethernet and controlled by a PC or tablet. Under the hood, it has a dual-core Cortex A9 processor, 1GB of RAM and 16 GB of flash memory. All content can be managed easily via a Web interface and users can upload images and videos to it and incorporate social media channels. The multimedia content is then arranged into playlists and programs, with schedules that specify when each program is played. In this way, digital welcome screens are easily converted into a Twitter wall in an instant.
Red-V One is available from Deutsche Telekom’s M2M Marketplace, an international platform for manufacturers of and dealers in hardware, software, apps and end-to-end solutions in the field of M2M communication: https://marketplace.m2m.telekom.com/
