EE launches LTE-A pilot in London

U.K. mobile operator to give Tech City slickers a taste of 300 Mbps mobile broadband, but rollout to the rest of London will take another year.

EE on Tuesday laid claim to the world's fastest mobile broadband network after switching on a 300 Mbps LTE-Advanced network, albeit in a small area of East London. The U.K. operator achieved the high throughput by using carrier aggregation to combine 20 MHz of 1800-MHz spectrum with 20 MHz of 2.6-GHz spectrum, which it acquired in February's auction…
