Ixia today announced that 6WIND is using Ixia solutions to ensure it delivers the highest performance networking data plane software to its customers. Using Ixia’s Layer 4 through 7 traffic generation, 6WIND confidently brings to market solutions that enhance telecom, enterprise and cloud networks while optimising network services and addressing critical scalability challenges.

Requirements for processing TCP/IP or IPsec traffic are continuously changing with new developments in cloud applications, innovation in SDN and NFV and increasing demand for enterprise-class mobility. 6WIND’s software, tested using Ixia solutions, solves Linux networking performance bottlenecks while delivering industry-leading performance for advanced networking functions in SDN-based applications.

News highlights
As network throughput requirements increase with data center convergence, enterprise expansion and new service deployments, network professionals are required to deliver high performance in both physical and virtual environments.

•Internet traffic continues to grow exponentially with the swift rise in mixed-media downloads video streaming, peer-to-peer sharing, wireless usage and traffic aggregation.
•Ixia enables 6WIND to fully test against various traffic mixes relevant to the gamut of network environments, including the type of traffic unique to SDN and NFV applications, which are increasingly important to 6WIND as it serves customers in these growing markets.
•Through Ixia’s solutions, 6WIND is able to fully stress its fast path software architecture that includes functions such as IPsec, TCP, PPPoE, NAT and OVS acceleration. 6WIND verifies performance levels that reach hundreds of Gbps, millions of TCP connections and low latency.
•Using Ixia’s IxNetwork and IxLoad, 6WIND is able to emulate the highest rate of network traffic over platforms in order to fully stress and validate underlying software.
oIxNetwork enables 6WIND to conduct large-scale network infrastructure, capacity, scalability and convergence testing while also providing rapid isolation of any network issues.
oIxLoad provides the next level of testing by emulating data, voice and video to comprehensively test application delivery platforms.

This week, 6WIND will be demonstrating its Open vSwitch acceleration solution, driven by an Ixia traffic generator, at SDN & OpenFlow World Congress, Frankfurt, Germany at Stand 16.

Commentary
“We’re providing our customers with the highest performance networking solutions that accelerate Linux packet processing on multicore platforms. To do that, we require the highest performing traffic generators to develop, test and demonstrate our products,” said Vincent Jardin, CTO, 6WIND. “In order to benchmark the latest releases of our software, we need best-in-class Layer 4 through 7 test equipment and Ixia is our vendor of choice.”

“Today’s high performance networks carry a wide range of traffic types at high capacity and require an increasingly robust infrastructure,” said Michael Haugh, Product Marketing Manager, Ixia. “6WIND is a market leader in data plane processing, so we’re delighted that it has selected our traffic generation technology to enable the delivery of gold standard software to service providers and equipment manufacturers needing to scale complex networks.”
