Penrillian, the mobile software and applications specialist, has launched a new service designed to take an idea from concept through to a prototype in just three weeks. Penrillian launched the service in response to the increasing demand it was seeing for rapid development of working prototypes for innovative apps. Through a continual feedback process, the service enables businesses to continually refine a working proof of concept that can then be used to support the business case for the full application development and associated system integration.
Explaining this new service Ian Hetherington, Head of Sales and Marketing at Penrillian said: “Customers often waste huge amounts of money in drawing up detailed functional specifications. Without a proof of concept they then struggle to get board level approval and funding to get beyond this stage and many good ideas fall by the wayside. Other customers find that the functional specifications they have paid for often overlook key system integration and user requirements which then have to be added in after the app has been developed at great cost, and often impacting on the user experience.”
How the Incubator process works:
The Incubator process begins with an intensive one-day workshop involving the customer and the Penrillian technical and business developments teams. Having determined the desired outcome the Penrillian technical team then work to build the solution giving daily feedback to the customer and in turn seeking regular input from the customer to ensure that no effort is wasted on unnecessary work. The price for the service is fixed at the start.
The process is best suited to complex apps, where the risk of failure can be costly. Penrillian has developed an impressive track record in delivering these kinds of apps and solutions working with mobile operators, financial services companies and other businesses in a variety of sectors. The company works across all the major platforms: iOS for iPhone and iPad, Android, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone and every flavour of desktop, server and mobile Windows and Linux, Mac OSX, JavaME, WAC mobile widgets and HTML5.
