Oxygen8 Group, in partnership with Kenya Orient Insurance Limited, is delighted to announce the launch of Orient Mobile, a stand-alone mobile phone insurance that is the first of its kind in Kenya.

The cover will significantly reduce the potential trouble caused by a lost or stolen mobile device, simply by preparing users for the situation. Orient Mobile is a stand-alone mobile phone insurance product, unbundled from the domestic cover, providing affordability and is open to all data-enabled phones. The solution is aimed at significantly reducing the potential trouble caused by a lost or stolen mobile device, through providing compensation for the cost of repairing or replacing the phone.

Brian Waluchio, CEO of Oxygen8 East Africa commented; “We are delighted to see Orient Mobile launch in Kenya. With over 29 million subscribers in the country, it is a great honor to work with Kenya Orient Insurance Limited in providing a solution to the increasing problem of mobile phone loss in the country.”

The product will apply to over 120 mobile phone models that use GSM SIM cards and are internet enabled. To sign up users will have to send an SMS with the word MOBILE to the number 70707. The users will then receive an SMS with a link to the Orient Mobile website which they can then click to continue with the sign-up process. Oxygen8’s technology will facilitate the messaging between Orient Mobile and the end user.
