BEREC blasts EU's 'rushed' telco proposals

Regulatory group says it was not consulted by the European Commission; claims new rules could create legal uncertainty, take power away from national authorities.

The Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) has strongly criticised the European Commission's recent proposals for a single telecoms market, claiming they are rushed and could create legal uncertainty. In a statement issued on Monday, the regulatory body, which acts as an advisory group to national telco watchdogs and Brussels, said the Commission had opted not to consult it before launching the new regulatory package…
