Australia makes headlines as its major operators turn their backs on Kogan Mobile, while Canada's mobile big guns work on keeping Verizon out.

Contrary to what the headline might have led you to believe, today's Friday Review is not about cricket. We felt that under the circumstances any overt reference to a major biennial contest involving the sound of leather on willow would be a bit churlish. And of course we're anxious not to offend any of our readers of an antipodean bent or baffle those across the Atlantic. However, we are going to start this week's news round-up with a look at recent goings-on down under; specifically, the fact that Australian virtual mobile operator Kogan Mobile was reduced to ashes after the enabler that provided it with access to Telstra's network went into administration…
