South Korean gadget aficionados have turned the phrase 'bring a knife to a gunfight' on its head, after people took knives, spears and BB guns to what was supposed to be a harmless bit of fun to promote LG's new G2 smartphone. The electronics maker had devised a cunning method of giving away 100 of its latest handset: it released 100 helium balloons each bearing a voucher for a free G2 and encouraged the enterprising people of Seoul to get their hands on one by any means they could think of. Unfortunately a crucial caveat was overlooked, namely the one that begs people not to use knives, spears or BB guns to bring down the balloons.
