It's 'too late' for Joyn, mobile operators say

Mobile operators worldwide are sceptical about GSMA initiative's chances of success; many also find it difficult to broker partnership deals with OTT players.

Mobile operators need to tackle the growing competition they face in the messaging space, but most believe that Joyn is not the answer. Joyn, the GSMA-backed cross-platform messaging and file-sharing initiative designed to help operators compete with over-the-top (OTT) messaging services, has gained little traction since it launched last year and the results of a new survey suggest that is not likely to change any time soon…
