Adtran, a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, announced today that TalkTalk Business (TalkTalk) is using ADTRAN’s NetVanta IP Business Gateways to deliver its new advanced IP-ISDN30 service. The service, designed to provide growing enterprises with robust and flexible communications at 50% lower cost than traditional ISDN, features a NetVanta 6310 gateway at each customer site. The investment in ADTRAN supports TalkTalk’s promise to customers for minimal disruption during upgrade and hybrid flexibility in ISDN and SIP trunk interfaces, while complementing the performance and built-in service continuity of TalkTalk’s all-IP, next-generation network – the UK’s largest.

“We’ve chosen innovation and excellence in building our IP communications services with ADTRAN, and the effect is to ensure our customer offering is simple, secure and unparalleled in value for money and technical support,” said Jon Nowell, head of comms services product management at TalkTalk Business. “The NetVanta gateways are internationally field-proven to save time and pain; offer provisioning with little or no customer intervention; and integrate seamlessly with other on-premise systems to provide reliable and scalable voice and data.”

Many of the world’s leading operators use the NetVanta IP Business Gateways. The solution combines the functions of an IP Business Gateway and Ethernet Access Device in one chassis, with a range of robust routing and voice features secured by an on-board stateful inspection firewall and IPSec VPN.

“To meet its benchmark for service continuity, SIP security was a big expectation for TalkTalk. During the evaluation, we were able to demonstrate the superiority of NetVanta over alternative platforms,” said Jim Axford, general manager at ADTRAN Europe Limited. “TalkTalk has become a significant player in UK telecoms, and with services like IP-ISDN30 they will be well-positioned to target even bigger rivals that currently offer far less flexibility for higher cost.”
