Germany gets new mobile leader as Telefonica buys E-Plus

KPN sells E-Plus but will take 17.6% stake in new German entity; Q2 figures show revenue, EBITDA decline.

KPN will sell its German unit E-Plus to Telefonica in a cash and stock deal that will create a new mobile market leader in the country. Under the terms of the deal, rumoured on Monday and formally announced early Tuesday, Telefonica will pay KPN €5 billion in cash. In addition, KPN will take a 17.6% stake in the combined entity. The deal requires the consent of both Telefonica Deutschland's and KPN's shareholders…
