Birdstep Technology (www.birdstep.com), a leading provider of Smart Mobile Data and Secure Mobility services, has announced that The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust National Health Service (http://www.therotherhamft.nhs.uk) in the UK has licensed its SafeMove Mobile VPN software to provide care workers with access to patient records and clinical data seamlessly from the field over multiple networks.

“The new system fulfils the aim to have a “clinical office in a bag” - an office like experience when mobile. The clinical worker simply turns on the laptop, and the service takes care of choosing the best available network whilst ensuring security over that network,” said Paul Chapman, Clinical Systems Engagement Lead, at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. “Our team can now spend less time on administration and more with patients, which we hope will help further reduce the number of unnecessary hospital referrals and admissions.”

SafeMove addresses the usability challenges associated with mobile connectivity and security with its zero-click always-on approach, allowing clinical workers to focus on patients instead of IT. SafeMove allows clinical workers to enjoy simplified mobile access to email, web browsing and National Clinical Applications such as SystmOne and iPM. SafeMove will therefore increase productivity and allow The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust to maximize returns on its mobility investment.

“We are thrilled to see SafeMove being implemented within The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. The combination of ease-of-use and security provided by SafeMove ensures that it is the perfect tool not only for Rotherham, but for any NHS organisation looking to improve the productivity of its mobile workers”, says Sanna Tiilikainen, VP Global Sales, Secure Mobility. “With initiatives such as the Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention (QIPP) programme we see a heightened interest in the use of innovative technology in order to increase productivity and patient care quality, and we are excited to play a significant role in this important area.”
