Telcos have a wealth of big data at their disposal, but can they leverage the available information before it's too late?

This week was all about the network. Big issues abounded at Total Telecom's Network Management Show in London; none bigger, you would think, than one of biggest of big buzz-phrases of the moment: big data. And yet, while big data must be, by its very nature, big; the results it has produced for telecoms operators so far have been, well, piddly. "We're still some distance from delivering the commercial promise of big data," concluded Terry Norman, co-founder of analyst firm Wireless Explorers, at the closing of a roundtable discussion during the show on Wednesday.
