Netbiscuits announced the launch of a new bandwidth quality detection capability that will enable website owners to address the challenge of delivering fast websites to every mobile user. The new parameter for the Netbiscuits Device Context Service – a cloud-based database of over 6,000 mobile device profiles – detects user bandwidth quality instantly when they access a mobile website, allowing for adjustment of site content to deliver the fastest possible user experience
With almost half the population of the world using mobile communications today , brands are finding it increasingly necessary to grow and maintain their business through improving their mobile web offering. Consumer expectations are high and speed is a critical factor in determining mobile web success. The Netbiscuits Device Context Service provides device-specific information, based on fixed and dynamic parameters of device capabilities and use. The bandwidth detection parameter can immediately determine the speed of the connection between device and website, enabling the decision on what content to send back to the user. When combined with other Netbiscuits Platform services such as Image Converter, slower connections would receive sites with lower-resolution images, keeping page load times minimal for all consumers no matter which device.
“Netbiscuits already helps numerous brands and enterprises across the globe deliver adaptive and optimized mobile content to their customers, and we are continually adding new parameters to further improve our quality of service,” commented Michael Neidhoefer, CEO Netbiscuits. “Speed continues to be the most important consideration for most consumers when determining a great mobile web experience. According to a 2012 study from Keynote Competitive Research, 50% of consumers expect a mobile website to load in less than two seconds. The Netbiscuits People’s Web Report 2013 found that 76% of global consumers would leave a poorly-optimized mobile website, with 33% overall refusing to return to a site once they have left it. Speed is an essential function of a user-friendly mobile site and the dynamic parameters of the Device Context Service aim to provide users with the best possible experience based on what it knows about their device.”
Developed as part of the Device Context Service, the addition of the new parameter offers a multitude of business benefits to brands by measuring dynamic information in order to deliver the best possible user experience on mobile. With every second counting, brands are under pressure to deliver a consistently great experience to all of their users, to help turn mobile visits into conversions. Netbiscuits’ adaptive web solutions enable developers to enhance Responsive Web Design techniques by addressing the key challenge of delivering contextualized content to every device.
