Vodafone, China Mobile withdraw Myanmar licence bid

Telcos say licence conditions did not meet their 'strict' investment criteria.

Vodafone and China Mobile on Friday withdrew their joint application for a mobile licence in Myanmar. The two operators, which formed a consortium in April, constituted one of 12 pre-qualified applicants. Other big names on the list include Japan's KDDI, MTN, Qatar incumbent Ooredoo, Orange, SingTel, and Telenor (see below for the full list).
