Wayra puts new intake of digital start-ups through their paces at London academy.

They say a week is a long time in politics. It turns out it's also a long time if you're part of the new intake at London's Wayra Academy, the Telefonica-backed incubator for digital technology start-ups. I paid a visit to the London academy on Thursday, just eight days after the 17 new ventures selected by Telefonica in late March moved in. The chosen start-ups are the second batch to come through its doors and will remain for the next six to nine months, in which time they will be advised and nurtured by a team of specialists, including representatives of Telefonica and other investors, who will tailor an acceleration plan for each company. Indeed, within just a few days of arriving at the academy the start-ups found themselves pitching to 120 potential mentors and investors, who are themselves competing to work with the start…
