Telstra Global has won a major contract to provide a fully managed Multi-protocol Label Switching Network (MPLS) solution to Braemar Shipping Services, a division of one of the largest marine and energy services businesses in the world.

Telstra Global will provide larger bandwidth and a more consolidated service to support the roll-out of a number of new network applications for the shipping giant. Implementation is expected to be completed in the next six months and when fully rolled out will span the entire Braemar network including Asian, European and Australian sites.

Braemar CEO James Kidwell said the ability to bring its complete network under one preferred supplier would ensure the speed and efficiency required to support its first class global communications and operations.

“Ensuring high performance across our entire communications network is essential for Braemar Shipping Services to remain at the forefront of our industry,” Mr Kidwell said.

“Working with Telstra Global now means we are able to streamline our operations and reap the benefits of increased efficiency and reduced costs which come as a result of the quality of network services it provides and the partnership with one reliable vendor.”

Braemar’s Group IT Director Haroldo Piacenti said this reliability spreads beyond the technology solution to include the team we work with at Telstra Global. “We are confident that regardless of which site requires support Telstra Global can provide us with a local team to resolve any issues within the local time frame. This quality and flexibility of this technical support is invaluable to our global teams and we look forward to expanding the partnership even further.”

Telstra owns one of the most technologically advanced IP backbone global networks in the Asia Pacific region, offering an extensive portfolio of solutions to global customers, including voice, mobile, broadband, IP, MPLS and managed services.
Telstra Global’s CEO for Europe, the Middle East and Africa Tom Homer says that organisations require scalable communication networks to support the growth of their global enterprises, an expansion which Telstra Global is well positioned to enable.

“We understand that our customers’ networks need to perform at the highest standard to support demanding applications across global infrastructures. The global MPLS solution from Telstra Global will ensure each Braemar Shipping site can communicate quickly and seamlessly which in turn will mean a more productive workforce and better service for its customers,” Mr Homer said.
