Australia's digital dividend auction raises A$2bn

Telstra spends big, Vodafone skips out altogether, and A$1 billion worth of frequencies is left on the block.

Australia's telco regulator on Tuesday announced it has completed the auction of digital dividend spectrum, raising around A$2 billion (€1.5 billion) for the government. Three companies participated. Telstra paid the most, securing 2x20 MHz of 700-MHz spectrum and 2x40 MHz of 2.5-GHz spectrum for a total of A$1.3 billion (€1 billion) (see table).
